Report: Russia, Japan can mull gas pipeline building – Gazprom
MOSCOW, Dec 16 (PRIME) -- Moscow and Tokyo can soon start discussion of construction of a gas pipeline between the Sakhalin Island and Japan, CEO of Russian gas giant Gazprom Alexei Miller told channel NTV in an interview broadcast Friday.
“No doubt, a project like this can take place. At the moment, this topic has just been mentioned. Anyway, it is not a simple question technologically but still workable. I think that the project could become a matter of negotiations between Russia and Japan in the near future,” Miller said.
Miller also told channel RT that Gazprom is considering an asset swap with Japan’s Mitsui and Mitsubishi. Earlier on Friday, the company signed agreements on strategic cooperation with the companies.
